The economic condition has been pretty bleak in the last two years and it has been seen that more and more people are now opting for self catering vacations. Self catering vacations are definitely the best bet given the economic climate and it comes with a host of benefits.

However, before you move onto the benefits of self catering holidays you need to understand what it exactly is. A lot of people are still unable to understand the concept of self catering vacations clearly. Many think that self catering vacations are all about preparing your own food. It is true that you can prepare your own food if you want to during a self catering holiday, you can however also ask the accommodation to provide the meals. If you go on a holiday with a travel agency you can order food just whenever you want to but the cost of the meals will be sky high.

The most important benefit of self catering holidays is that you will have to pay significantly less for your accommodation because it does not include the charges of your food. However, if you buy all your meals from your place of accommodation then you may end up paying more. Therefore, you should always try to get your food from different restaurants and food joints. In fact that is the whole point of staying in a self catering accommodation. Moreover, you can also try some local recipes by getting fresh produce from the local market and cooking your own meal.

A self catering holiday gives you the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of property where you want to spend your holiday. You can stay in a modest or small property during the self catering holiday. However, if you are going on a self catering vacation with a large group of friends it is advisable to choose a large property. This will be great fun because you guys can cook together whenever you want to and can also enjoy local cuisine together at the local restaurants when you feel like it. And with the growth of the self catering vacation industry you can arrange for self catering vacations in almost all parts of the world.

Christmas Bells

The most loved Holidays – Christmas is coming! Cristmas celebration has become not only a sacred religious holiday but a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon. Every year millions people celebrate Christmas around the world with exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and, of course, waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.

In approximately year 300 A.D., the birthday of Jesus was determined to be on December 25, the day that has been celebrated from then till this very day. The celebration on the 25th of December starts with Christmas Eve, the evening of December 24.

The religious festival is originally a blend of pagan customs. The Romans held a festival on December 25 called Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, i.e. “the birthday of the unconquered sun.”. Pagan Scandinavia celebrated a winter festival called Yule, held in late December to early January. However, it is uncertain exactly why December 25 became associated with the birth of Jesus since the Old Testament doesn’t mention a specific date of the event.

Christmas is a festivity for the entire family especially for kids who are waitung for this time all year alomg.

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Why Should You Prefer a Self Catering Holiday?

Let us face it; we go out on a holiday to get a decent break from the rigors of life. The whole point lies in the fact that we want to take a break and chill out. When you plan out a holiday, what would you generally like it to be? If you think it over, the last vacation that you really enjoyed was the one that gave you the most freedom. When you are out on a vacation you do not want to be tied down by your watch. Then how is it truly going to be a break for you? So if you choose a holiday resort or home, where food is served, you sure get the comfort of readymade food. But what are you compromising that with? Your freedom! Yes, you are getting tied down to the timings of the hotel kitchen. That is exactly the reason why you need a self catering holiday.

You must have come across the phrase self catering holidays before. What exactly is a self catering holiday? It is a holiday package which does not include the service of food and drinks. How is that an advantage? Self catering ensures that you could eat whatever you want and anytime you want. But where will you get to prepare your own food? These holiday packages typically include all the kitchen equipments in your room that you need for your food. This also means that you can get total privacy when you are eating. After all that is one of the main objectives of your holiday is it not? You want to spend some quality time with your partner or family far from the maddening crowd. When you are out you just can not be yourself. You have to maintain your best behavior. But with self catering holiday packages it is actually possible to feel like you are at your own home while you are actually far away.

And the best part of a self catering holiday package is that it is the most cost effective way to travel. This is not only when you are opting for a self catering package over an all inclusive one. When you eat out at the hotel, you spend way lot more money than you spend while you are home. You end up paying for the food tax and service tax and a lot more hidden costs. Let us say you are spending around 200 bucks for a meal outside, you can be quite assured that you will spend around 40 bucks for the same meal when self served, in the cozy corner of your room. It must have also happened to you some time or the other, that you have paid for an all inclusive holiday package to come and discover that the hotel kitchen is not all that good, and the money was just not spent in a worthwhile way.

So the next time you are provided with a choice between self catering holiday and an all inclusive one, keep the real objectives of your trip in mind and make your choice.

Happy Birthday America!

Every year, July 4, America celebrates birthday of the United States of America, Independence Day. the day when America claimed its independence from Britain and Democracy(On July 4, 1776), the day the wording of the Declaration was approved by Congress. You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism, Erma Bombeck said.

What is your way to celebrate American independence day?

All we have of freedom, all we use or know -
This our fathers bought for us long and long ago.

Lag Ba Omer

This holiday is not based on Biblical texts, that’s what makes it so special with misterious meaning.
There are few reasones why Jewish people celebrate this festive holiday. But the common thing is unity.
Unfortunately, Jew as a nation, it’s own worst enemy.
During this period between Passover and Shavuot the main target is to work on Jewish unity.
Only as united people they can come to Shavuot and accept the Torah.
As John Lennon said: “All you need is Love!”

St. Mark 25 on April

The 25th of April is a date of the death of the Saint Mark.
Venetians used to sanctify the 25th of April far before that date became the actual National Holiday of Italy liberation. April the 25th is indeed the holiday of the Patron Saint of the city, whose relic, which was on Islamic territory in Alexandria of Aegypt, was transferred in Venice in the year 828 by two legendary Venetian merchants: Buono da Malamocco and Rustico da Torcello.

After defeating the evil, St. Mark committed the boatman a ring, to hand it over to Bartolomeo Gradenigo Duke of Venice at those times, to have it preserved in the St. Mark´s Treasure.

Passover

To truly understand the nature of this holiday one needs to understand the two words that make it up, “Pas” and “Sover”. It kind of just makes you wonder? So what’s Passover all about you ask? One aspect of Passover is asking questions. We strongly encourage our young, old, strong and weak to ask questions about holiday. To inquire about all the wonderful miracles that performed for the Jewish people. It’s through asking questions that we unravel the entire Exodus story. It’s the beginning of our history as a nation and therefore it’s important for everyone to participate.

Another theme of Pasover is giving. Although we weren’t really deserving of redemption, God took us out of Egypt. I suppose you could say he was giving of credit. How often do we have a chance to give on credt? Helping someone who you think might not deserve another chance? All the more so, how often do we help and give to those who are truly in need? Do we look for opportunities to give or do we help out only when we’re asked? Shlomo Carlebach used to say, the most God-like act a person can perform is to give. The best part about giving is that you can give for free! Try giving a warm hello to the security guard at the mall. What about giving your attention the next time a sales clerck tries to help you in a store instead of being on the phone. To quote Anne Frank, “Nobody has ever become poor by giving.” Happy Passover to everyone!

Purim

Purim is one of the most festive Jewish holidays, a time of prizes, noisemakers, costumes and treats. Purim commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from Haman’s plot t annihilate them. The story of Purim is told in the Biblical book of Esther. Purim is celebrated on the 14th day of Adar, which is usually in March. Usually it is celebrated with drinking, dressing up, and funny performances. Even rainy weather can’t stop kids and adults to dress up their carnival costumes.

So, we also make gifts with tasty food and drink and send them to all our friends and family.
